Value: Is the Garnier sunscreen SPF 50+ worth it?

If you’ve struggled to find a sunscreen that you enjoy wearing daily, that doesn’t create any issues and won’t irritate skin or cause breakouts, add this one to your shopping list, pronto.

I think it’s important to note that there was a time when this product—at this price point—was an anomaly, but affordable and effective sunscreens are cropping up all the time, and whilst this one remains a firm favorite of mine, Bondi Sands’ Hydra SPF 50+ is very similar and is slightly cheaper at £11.

Another similar product is Thank You Farmer’s Sun Light Project Light Sun Essence, in terms of texture and ease of application there isn’t much difference, but it is more expensive at £24. However, I think that’s entirely justified as it offers a better blend of hydration ingredients, thanks to its Korean heritage. Garnier's is also very similar in texture and formulation to La Roche-Posay’s Anthelios UVMune 400 Invisible Fluid SPF 50—but at £19.90, the latter is a bit more expensive.

Er wordt aangeraden om 4-12 druppels te mengen met een dagcrème en gelijkmatig aan te brengen op gezicht en hals, waarbij het belangrijk is je handen te wassen na gebruik. Application

My AM skincare routine is rather basic: a toner, a serum, and (maybe) Paula’s Choice’s CBD Milk, a very thin fluid. Sometimes I even skip that.

Because of the high alcohol content, I like to create a “buffer” with my skincare routine so my sensitive skin won’t dry out and isn’t as easily irritated. Because of that, I sometimes use a moisturiser underneath the Garnier Face Fluid.

The formula is very, very liquid: I tried to measure the sunscreen via the “finger-length” method, but couldn’t do that very well. When I used my scales and the small ¼ teaspoon tool, the little tool was full to the brim.

Strangely, although very liquid and with a rather high alcohol content, the formula isn’t as light as I’d expected. Instead, it does feel comparatively rich and creamy.
