First up, and perhaps my favourite Holland and Barrett CBD product is this lightweight and refreshing CBD Day Serum. I’m on to my second bottle of this now, which is rare for me as I like to try lots of new serums and rarely come back to them!
Holland and Barrett describe this vegan serum as super concentrated to give the skin a moisture boost.
It contains both CBD and nourishing hemp seed oils, which the brand claim will help to regulate the skin’s oil production despite your skin type. I love that it contains soothing aloe too. The serum is said to reduce the effects of inflammation, and is okay to use if you have problem skin.
Housed in a glass bottle with dropper, it’s mostly recyclable, too!
In fact, I actually use it twice a day and not just in the morning. Because in the evening, I like my serum to bring about calm and hydration – and Holland and Barrett CBD Serum does just that. Also, if I’ve overdone acid toners or retinol, this is the serum I reach for! It’s so calming – bringing down any redness and tightness.
Overall verdict: a calming, soothing, and moisturising serum that’s great value for money.
Next up is the wonderfully moisturising Holland and Barrett CBD Day Cream. Just like the serum, the Day Cream contains both CBD and hemp oil to regulate oil production while offering a boost of youth thanks to its concentration of antioxidants. It’s suitable for all skin types.
These amazing new innovative and exciting new Holland and Barrett More stores could really change things for those living with coeliac disease and allergies and especially those newly diagnosed. I remember the day my dairy and wheat allergy were diagnosed. After going through our larder and cupboards I sat on the peeling lino in tears with a packet of rice cakes in my lap.
My world, a world full of ready meals, pot noodles and junk food was crumbling around me and I had no idea what to do next. It took me many years of awful disasters in the kitchen to learn how to make healthy, fresh and tasty meals but I got there. If there had been a Holland and Barrett More store back then I could have spent many happy hours trawling the shelves looking for tasty things to replace the lost staples.
One good thing came out of developing allergies for me – my awful diet was revolutionised and I am bit of a foodie now. The body is a freefrom temple and all that.
It was a real privilege to be invited and I am looking forward to working with Holland and Barrett over the coming months. Watch out for some blog posts soon.
The best bit by far of the whole evening was seeing some friendly faces amongst the other guests with whom to ohhh and ahhh and exclaim. We were impressed. We were all VERY impressed.
I met Lyndsey McManus of AllergyUK who have teamed up with Holland and Barrett and attended the ribbon cutting at the shop when it opened that morning and we both trotted down the red carpet together.
I also met Peter Aldis CEO of Holland and Barrett who was so passionate about their plans to revolutionise how they view Free From. He was friendly and funny and not like a CEO at all. I was impressed that he made time to speak to everyone there and even the humble bloggers like myself. Thank you Peter – I can assure you all that Peter Aldis ‘gets freefrom’ and his vision is for even more than the planned 50 stores and he wants them to be even bigger than the one in Chester. Go Peter! Bring it on.
This week has been jam packed with FreeFrom excitement and as if the FreeFrom Awards evening wasn’t enough on Wednesday 22nd April, I hot footed it to Chester on Thursday 23rd April to celebrate with Holland and Barrett who are opening their first concept store.
Welcome back, dear skincare friend! Today I would love to talk to you about Holland & Barrett CBD Skincare!
This soothing, calming and antioxidant rich CBD based skincare range is a real treat you should know about! As a long time admirer, I have good experience of the range and its effects on my skin.
The CBD products that Holland & Barrett carry are really great – there’s something for everyone. It’s fantastic to see CBD skincare in stores, as it has such a range of benefits.
So, before we dive into these products, shall we quickly remind ourselves what is CBD, and why would we use it in skincare? Let’s do it!
A mother whose month-old baby developed a severe and painful case of eczema had her prayers answered by a cream available on the high street for just £7.99. Lola Weston's painful condition was so bad that the she had to wear socks on her little hands to keep her from scratching and drawing blood.
Lola was just a month old when mum, Danielle Wright-Humphreys, 24, noticed a small pink rash appear at the top of her cheek. Within two months it had spread to Lola's entire body.
Before long, the tot was covered by itchy and inflamed red skin and sores which would bleed whenever she scratched them. It was so bad that Danielle had to cover Lola's hands in an effort to stop her incessant scratching, writes the Manchester Evening News.
The sudden and unexplained rashes left Danielle, whose son has clear skin, bewildered and desperate to find a solution to ease her baby daughter's agony. Little did she realise that there was a quick fix available on the high street that would cure Lola's ailment overnight.
“I was caught between a rock and a hard place, said Danielle, who lives in Stoke-on-Trent with Lola, her son Joey Weston, two, and her gas engineer fiancé, Joe Weston. "I would put cream on her skin and it would flare up, all red and swollen.
"But when I didn't, her skin would be so dry it started to chap and bleed. If she scratched herself in the slightest, she would just start bleeding."
"It would flare up every now and then, but I didn’t think too much of it at first," she added. "I assumed it was just some irritation from her slobbering in the night. But then, at three months old, I woke up one day and she was trying to scratch herself. She had really dry skin and a rash all over her body."
