The directions for use of an AHA product will differ from product to product, and will also depend on your skin type. Below is a general outline of how each type of AHA product should be used.
How often you use leave-on AHA products will depend on the strength of the formula, as well as your own skin’s sensitivity and needs.
After a couple weeks, you may decide to increase the usage.
For starters, AHA masks have a higher concentration of AHAs, and should be used with caution.
Instead, apply soothing and hydrating products, like a moisturizer and a facial oil.
Apply an AHA body lotion just as you would a typical body lotion.

Win-win-win!
The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Exfoliating Peeling Solution is a bestselling product as it is effective, fast (takes just 10 minutes) and, at just $8, is very affordable. "A TikTok favorite at a great price point that gives an instant glow, but may be too irritating for people with sensitive skin," says Craiglow.
Catalina Villaneda, esthetician at Face Haus Dallas is a fan of this product and loves the AHA/BHA combination it offers. "Combined together, they work not only at a surface level but also to penetrate deeper into the skin," she says.
Garshick agrees on its effectiveness. "Combining various alpha-hydroxy acids including glycolic acid and lactic acid with beta hydroxy acids, like salicylic acid, this exfoliant helps to reduce clogged pores and congestion while also improving skin texture and uneven skin tones," she says. "While affordable, it should not be used more than twice per week."
