About My Skin: Combination and prone to dullness

My skin, while mostly unproblematic, has a few characteristics I'm not in love with. It's combination (meaning I don't break out often but have consistent congestion along my nose and chin and dryness everywhere else), and it can be noticeably dull and sallow-looking at times with bouts of discoloration from the sun or former breakouts.

You can use this product during both your morning and nighttime skincare routines. Smooth two to three pumps of the essence along your face directly after cleansing and toning. The brand recommends using a gentle patting motion before massaging the formula in for a few seconds until it's absorbed. This is the perfect time to do a few deep breaths and enjoy the process. Follow up with a serum and your favorite moisturizer.

Myrothamnus Flabellifolia in skincare

De Cien Cellular Beauty Day Cream bevat Myramaze®, de merknaam voor een combinatie van de volgende ingrediënten, Propanediol, Water, Myrothamnus Flabellifolia Extract, Ascorbic Acid, Citric Acid.

Myrothamnus Flabellifolia Extract is een extract van de Myrothamnus Flabellifolia, een plantje uit Zuid-Afrika dat ook wel bekend staat als de ‘resurrection plant’. Het plantje is een kei in het overleven onder barre omstandigheden. Het overleeft lange, bloedhete periodes door zichzelf in te drogen. Maar zodra er ook maar een paar druppeltjes water op de plant vallen wordt hij echter meteen groen en ziet er dus weer hartstikke springlevend uit!

De Myrothamnus Flabellifolia is rijk aan chuininezuur esters, een zeer goede antioxidant dat op zeer effectieve wijze een zeer droge huid kan hydrateren. De chuininezuur esters beschermen linolzuur, ons meest belangrijke huidlipide, tegen oxidatie, waardoor onze celmembranen niet uitdrogen. Volgens de leverancier van Myramaze® is een eenmalige applicatie voldoende om de huid de komende 48 uur te doen herleven. Bij langer gebruik zorgt het voor rehydratatie van droge huid, versterkt het een verzwakte huidbarrière, knapt het gevoelige huid op en wordt de huidtextuur zichtbaar verbetert.

Een echt wonderplantje, als ik het zo lees. Nu zijn deze onderzoeken gebaseerd op research gedaan uit naam van de leverancier zelf, dus hoe betrouwbaar deze resultaten zijn is nog maar de vraag. Ik heb wel wat onafhankelijke research gevonden die aangeven dat Myrothamnus Flabellifolia antivirale eigenschappen bezit, en dat het met succes kan worden ingezet tegen (schaaf)wonden en aambeien. Het heeft dus wel degelijk helende eigenschappen, maar wat het op celniveau doet op anti-ageing gebied is me nog een klein beetje onduidelijk.
