Er bestaan veel verschillende soorten en merken fillers. Een van de meest bijzondere is de Radiesse filler. Deze geeft namelijk niet alleen volume zoals alle andere fillers, maar stimuleert de huid ook om zichzelf te verbeteren. Of Radiesse iets voor jou is, weet je na het lezen van de blog!

Een filler is een gel die met een injectie in de huid wordt gebracht om meer volume te geven, de huid strakker te maken en rimpels te doen verdwijnen. Nadat de filler is ingebracht, wordt deze langzaam door de huid opgenomen. Als de filler is opgenomen, is er geen verdere schade aan de huid en ziet deze er weer uit zoals voor de behandeling of zelfs nog beter.

Er zijn twee soorten fillers en veel verschillende merken:
1. Fillers die hyaluronzuur bevatten
2. Fillers die hyaluronzuur en een collageenstimaltor bevatten

Wat is hyaluronzuur?
Hyaluronzuur is een stof die onze huid zelf ook aanmaakt om de huid gehydrateerd te houden. Een molecuul hyaluronzuur kan een veelvoud van zijn eigen gewicht aan vocht vasthouden. We vinden in de huid over heel ons lichaam, dus niet alleen in het gezicht zoals wel eens gedacht wordt.

Collageen
Behalve hyaluronzuur dat volume geeft, maakt onze huid ook collageen en elastine (zorgt voor elasticiteit in de huid) aan. Het collageen vormt een vezelstructuur in de huid als een soort visnet en zorgt ervoor dat de huid stevig is.

Als we ouder worden loopt de productie van collageen en elastine terug en verslapt de huid. We kunnen de huid stimuleren om weer meer van deze stoffen aan te maken, zodat de huid strakker en gelift wordt. Dit doen we door een filler in te brengen met een collageenstimulator erin.

The unique qualities of Radiesse

Not all injectable fillers are the same, and what sets Radiesse apart is its sturdy composition, versatility, and long-term collagen-building benefits.

Radiesse is closer to the chemical structure of human bone and yields an impactful, durable result.

Unlike hyaluronic acid fillers, Radiesse gel is stiffer and has greater viscosity. “Hyaluronic acid injectables are excellent for filling and lifting the skin, but Radiesse is superior for bone recontouring,” says Macrene Alexiades, M.D., a board-certified New York City dermatologist and an associate clinical professor of dermatology at the Yale University School of Medicine. “Radiesse is closer to the chemical structure of human bone and yields an impactful, durable result.” Need help understanding what bone recontouring means? Think of this filler as scaffolding, it’s a strong structure that holds the skin taut. This is why cosmetic experts reach for it when they want to, say, define a jawline.

But the kicker, say doctors, is that Radiesse can also be tinkered with to reduce its viscosity so it can work for other cosmetic goals. “We can dilute the gel with saline in various ratios to make it usable in different parts of the face and body,” says Levin. “If I want to volumize and tighten an area, then I’ll dilute it a little. If the patient’s skin is very thin, I might dilute it even more. It’s such a versatile product that can achieve many different outcomes across a wide range of goals and degrees of skin quality.” Radiesse that’s been significantly thinned out is known as Hyperdilute Radiesse.

While some patients may worry that diluting the gel makes it less effective, Levin says it’s really the opposite: “Diluting Radiesse means you’re dispersing the product more, so you can contour areas more comprehensively.” In theory, because Radiesse—which ranges anywhere from $600 to 800,000 per syringe—can be diluted, this could make the treatment slightly more cost-effective than other fillers, since it’s possible to get more use out of each vial. But both Alexiades and Levin caution that because doctors choose whether and how to dilute the gel based on each patient’s individual goals and the quality of their skin—and because a doctor may inject both Radiesse and a hyaluronic acid filler in the same area depending on the desired outcome—it’s not a guaranteed cost-saver.

Wat doet een hyaluronzuur filler?

Hyaluronzuur fillers worden over het algemeen het vaakst gebruikt. Deze bevat dus hyaluronzuur, een stofje dat van nature in ons lichaam voorkomt. Het zuur is vooral verantwoordelijk voor de hydratatie en bescherming van de huid. Naarmate we ouder worden, neemt de aanmaak hiervan af waardoor rimpels en volumeverlies ontstaat. Omdat hyaluronzuur van nature in ons voorkomt, breekt het lichaam dit ook vanzelf weer af. De filler is ideaal voor bijvoorbeeld de traangoten, lippen of neusbrug. Calcium hydroxylapatite, or CaHA, is what makes Radiesse unique as a dermal filler treatment. Radiesse is composed of CaHA suspended in an aqueous gel carrier. 3
