Wat is Bepanthen Eczeem en Hoe Werkt Het?

Atopic eczema treatment

The usual treatment consists of three parts:

  • Avoiding irritants to the skin and other causes (triggers) wherever possible.
  • Moisturisers (emollients) - used every day to help prevent inflammation developing.
  • Steroid creams and ointments (topical steroids) - mainly used when inflammation flares up.

Avoid triggers and irritants

Many people with atopic eczema have flare-ups from time to time for no apparent reason. However, some eczema flare-ups may be triggered or made worse by irritants to the skin, or by other factors. It is commonly advised to:

  • Avoid soaps, bubble baths, etc, when you wash. They can dry out the skin and make it more prone to irritation. Instead, use a soap substitute plus a bath/shower moisturiser.
  • Biological washing powders and fabric conditioners can also sometimes cause problems.
  • Try as much as possible not to scratch. To help with this, keep nails short and use anti-scratch mittens in babies. If you need to relieve an itch, rub with fingers rather than scratch with nails.
  • Wear cotton clothes next to skin rather than irritating fabrics such as wool. However, it is probably the smoothness of the material rather than the type of the material which helps. Some smooth man-made fabrics are probably just as good as cotton.
  • Avoid getting too hot or too cold as extremes of temperature can irritate the skin.
  • After you wash clothes with detergent, rinse them well. Some biological detergents are said by some people to be irritating. But there is little proof that commonly used detergents that are used in the normal way make atopic eczema worse.

Avoid food allergies

About 1 in 2 children with atopic eczema have a food allergy which can make symptoms worse. In general, it is young children with severe eczema who may have a food sensitivity as a trigger factor. The most common food allergies which trigger symptoms in some people include cow's milk, eggs, soya, wheat, fish and nuts.

Uses of Bepanthen cream on dogs

As previously stated, Bepanthen cream and similar products are topical medications which are used for the protection, care and repair of the skin. They can help reduce to reduce inflammation and calm the irritating sensation of burns and other minor injuries. This is thanks to the formation of a protective film of panthenol which protects the skin and limits dehydration. However, Bepanthen should not be used for open wounds.

The uses of Bepanthen on dogs may include:

  • Sensitive and delicate skin
  • Irritations
  • Dry and/or cracked skin
  • Chafing and peeling
  • Atopic dermatitis
  • Eczema
  • Itching
  • Allergic reactions

These types of dermatological conditions can be experienced by both humans and dogs. We might see the dog has one of the above skin conditions which has not been diagnosed by a veterinarian. A common issue is atopic dermatitis in dogs. Although it is considered safe for veterinary use [1] , the veterinarian will need to diagnose the problem for effective treatment. For example, skin damage can be caused by parasites which Bepanthen cannot eradicate.

We also need to bear in mind that the skin of a dog is not the same as that of a human. The pH balance of the skin is different and the dog has certain natural oils which we do not produce. For this reason, Bepanthen is not necessarily the ideal topical product for our dog. When used improperly, it can harm recovery or delay the start of a more appropriate treatment.

What else can you use Bepanthen for?

Bepanthen is actually a nappy ointment so of course its is good for Diaper Rash.

It can be used for other sensitive skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, insect bites, and dry skin.

Bepanthen can also be used to protect wounds from infection and promote the healing of cuts and scrapes.

It’s a useful item to have in your medicine cabinet.

Bepanthen for Lips

Bepanthen is also a great moisturizer for dry and chapped lips. Bepanthen locks in moisture and helps to protect the delicate skin on your lips from further damage. Bepanthen is also fragrance-free so it won’t irritate sensitive lips. It’s an inexpensive yet effective option for lip balm.

Bepanthen for Tattoos : Is it still good in 2023?

Bepanthen Nappy Care Ointment has been used for years by tattoo artists to help heal their clients’ tattoos. It’s a popular aftercare product that helps keep the skin moisturized and prevents infection. But, is Bepanthen still good for tattoos in 2023?

Although there is a lot of debate around the use of Bepanthen for tattoos it is still good for healing Tattoos. It creates a breathable layer to protect and moisturize the skin, prevents scabbing and is anti inflammatory. However it isn’t vegan as it contains Lanolin from sheep. Altogether it is safe and effective as tattoo aftercare for tattoos.

However, you need to be careful to use the right type of Bepanthen and to use it correctly.

In this blog post, we’ll explore the pros and cons of using Bepanthen for proper tattoo aftercare, whether or not to use it, mistakes to avoid and some alternatives.

Coconut Oil For Tattoos

Some tattooists recommend coconut oil for healing tattoos. Although coconut oil is gentle and mildly antiseptic I’m not a fan of using it to heal tattoos.

This is because it always comes in a tub or pot. Not a tube.

Any product in an open pot or tub is vulnerable to contamination wih bacteria. People keep putting unsanitized hands in it to remove the product.

This is a huge infection risk.

It’s an aspect of tattoo aftercare that is often overlooked.

So for this reason I don’t recommend coconut oil.
